At first look, this particular all-in-one desktop from Apple does not seem any different from the range of all-in-ones Apple launched in late 2009. It has the same unibody aluminum classy look and feel as well where the screen size is of 21.5 inch. However it is underneath this aluminum casing that this iMac has taken performance to whole new faster level.

Overview

This new iMac takes quite a lead from the older Core 2 duo versions with NVIDIA graphics. Apart from being faster and better at performance, this iMac presents the user with great, crisp HD experience. What powers this new horse from the Apple stables is a 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3 processor backed by ATI HD 4670 graphics. This combo makes this iMac a great desktop for high definition multimedia experience.

This iMac keeps in line with the Apple’s glass and aluminum unibody design where the casing is crafted from a single block of aluminum for sleek finish and sharp edges where the front bottom bezel has a black glossy Apple logo. The display is 21.5 inch glossy TFT-active matrix LCD with IPS technology which supports up to 1920x1080 pixels resolution that enables the iMac to play HD videos at ease and at stunning viewing angels of up to 178°.

On the rear side there is an array of ports. There are four USB 2.0 ports for extended range of peripheral connectivity, a FireWire 800 port for external hard drive connectivity and a Mini DisplayPort along with audio in and audio out, Ethernet port and also a Kensingston security slot.

On the right side, there is a slot-loading 8x DVD Super Drive and also a SDXC card slot for extended connectivity with memory cards up to 2TB in size.

The main features of this iMac lie beneath the chassis where it is powered by Intel’s Core i3 (Clarkdale) processor which is clocked at 3.03 GHz with a FSB of 1333MHz, 4GB DDR3 SDRAM, 500GB SATA HDD and is backed by the new ATI HD 4670 GPU with dedicated 256 MB RAM. The iMac 21.5in Core i3 3.06GHz comes packed with the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Magic Mouse which further make for a great home desktop experience. Also for wireless connectivity, this iMac packs Apple’s AirPort 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR wireless technologies. This makes it ideal for a home setup with fewer wires.
