Overview

Seventh foremost release of Mac OS X series, Snow Leopard Server, is an Apple’s server and desktop operating system for Mac computers. It was released on August 28, 2009 worldwide and the early sales of this operating system were considerably higher due to its low price. With the release of Mac OS X Snow Leopard server, Apple is on track to gain ground in a ‘Server’ Market. The goals of this operating system were greater efficiency and higher performance.

Snow Leopard Server is a full 64-bit OS, which is designed to maximize the computing potential of today’s Mac Pro systems and XServe. Theoretical maximum support of RAM is 16TB, which means server applications can utilize more physical memory and in turn run more efficiently and faster. It supports 64-bit and 32-bit kernel and can run 32-bits and 64-bits applications concurrently with no performance impact. This server is built on a fully compliant UNIX foundation. It can compile and run all your existing UNIX code and you can also deploy it in environments that demand full conformance.

MAC Server supports Mac OS Extended File System (HFS+), as well as data access from UNIX File System (UFS). It also supports drive stripping (RAID 0) for improved performance, drive mirroring (RAID 1) for improved reliability, and mirrored stripping (RAID 10) for both reliability and performance of server storage.
